Atessa

Atessa is part of the Rete Nazionale Città dei Motori (National Motor Cities Network), due to the presence in the area of important production facilities, two of which stand between the municipality of Atessa itself and the neighboring Paglieta. In 1971, Atessa became Honda’s headquarters, with the objective of assembling motorcycles originating from overseas, to then begin direct production on site. Within ten years, the Japanese parent company acquired the plant, making it an important production and export center. If Honda began to dictate the industrial fate of Atessa, the work continued with Sevel and Trigano, with their plants that unite Atessa and Paglieta. The first, opened in 1981, specializes in the production of light commercial vehicles, including the famous Ducato. The second, inaugurated in 2004, produces campers and caravans.
