Started in 1931 as a speed race, the Coppa Tre Laghi (Three Lakes Cup) – Varese – Campo dei Fiori is today a famous meeting for vintage cars.
The first edition of the Coppa Tre Laghi (Three Lakes Cup) – Varese – Campo dei Fiori took place in 1931. Organised by the RACI Milan and the Automobile Club Varese, the competition took the form of ten speed editions: a real and appropriate race against the backdrop of the Lombard Lakes.
The first five editions took place before the war: the scene was dominated by temerity, bravery, a great spirit of challenge and experimentation. Following the break caused by the war, the race was revived with five other editions, involving real “jewels” created by the carmakers of that time.
After the initial agonistic phase, the Coppa Tre Laghi (Three Lakes Cup) – Varese – Campo dei Fiori has dismissed the role of speed race. With time it has become a historical event, an annual parade of vintage cars that takes place in June, thanks to the Club Auto Moto Storiche Varese.
